DESCRIPTION:Extended deadline from May 6 to May 18. \n\nAim: Through the C
ongressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP)\, the Department
of Defense is announcing the Lung Cancer Research Program (LCRP) Awards. T
he LCRP Idea Development Award promotes new ideas that are still in the ea
rly stages of development and have the potential to yield impactful data a
nd new avenues of investigation. This award supports conceptually innovati
ve\, high-risk/high-reward research that could lead to critical discoverie
s or major advancements that will accelerate progress toward eradicating d
eaths and suffering from lung cancer.\n\nIn addition\, all applications fo
r LCRP funding must specifically address at least one of the Areas of Emph
asis as directed by Congress and have direct relevance to military health.
The FY20 LCRP Topic Areas are listed at the end of this announcement.\n\n
 Funding:        max. $350’000\n\nDuration:      2 years\n\nEli
gibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are
eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. This mechan
ism encourages applications from independent investigators in the early st
ages of their careers (i.e.\, within 10 years of their first faculty appoi
ntment\, or equivalent). The New Investigator category is designed to allo
w applicants early in their faculty appointments (Assistant Professor) to
compete for funding separately from established investigators. Application
s from New Investigators and Established Investigators will be peer and pr
ogrammatically reviewed separately.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are
submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact informat
ion\, a preproposal narrative\, and a list of collaborators and key person
nel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will b
e made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downlo

strategies for the screening and early detection of lung cancer.\n	Underst
and the molecular mechanisms of initiation and progression to lung cancer.
