DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lung Cancer Res
earch Program (LCRP) Awards. The LCRP Investigator Initiated Translational
Research Award supports translational research that will develop promisin
g ideas in lung cancer into clinical applications.  This mechanism is int
ended to fund a broad range of translational studies\, including\, but not
limited to\, the following:\n\n	Studies advancing/translating in vitro an
d/or animal studies to applications with human samples/cohorts.\n	Late-sta
ge preclinical work leading to/preparing for a clinical trial\, e.g.\, Inv
estigational New Drug (IND) application submission.\n	Correlative studies
that are associated with an open/ongoing or completed clinical trial and p
rojects that develop endpoints for clinical trials.\n\n\nIn addition\, all
applications for LCRP funding must specifically address at least one of t
he Areas of Emphasis as directed by Congress and have direct relevance to
military health. The FY20 LCRP Topic Areas are listed at the end of this a
 nnouncement.\n\nFunding:        max. $400’000\n\nDuration:
2 years\n\nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or
institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrict
ions. PI applicants must be independent investigators at or above the leve
l of Assistant Professor (or equivalent).\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-application
s are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact in
formation\, a preproposal narrative\, and a list of collaborators and key
personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation)
will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be
downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Application Deadline: 06-Ma
 y-2020\, 5:00 p.m. EST\nFull Application Deadline: 29-Jul-2020\, 11:59 p.m
 . EST\n\nGrants.gov Funding Opportunity Number: W81XWH-20-LCRP-IITRA\n\nFu
rther information\n\n\n	To see the program announcement\, navigate to the
search page on Grants.gov and search for the Opportunity Number W81XWH-20-
LCRP-IITRA\n	For questions about the eBRAP or Grants.gov platforms\, conta
ct the Research Office.\n\n\nFY20 Areas of Emphasis\n\n\n	Identify innovat
ive strategies for prevention of the occurrence of lung cancer.\n	Identify
innovative strategies for the screening and early detection of lung cance
r.\n	Understand the molecular mechanisms of initiation and progression to
lung cancer.\n	Understand contributors to lung cancer development other th
an tobacco.\n	DoD FY20 Lung Cancer Investigator-Initiated Translational Re
search Award 4\n	Identify innovative strategies for the treatment of lung
cancer.\n	Identify innovative strategies for the prevention of recurrence
of or metastases from lung cancer.\n	Develop or optimize prognostic or pre
dictive markers to assist with therapeutic decision-making.\n	Understand m
echanisms of resistance to treatment (primary and secondary).\n	Identify i
nnovative strategies for lung cancer care delivery (disparities/clinical m
 anagement/ surveillance/symptom management).\n
