DESCRIPTION:The Mercator Foundation Switzerland\, in partnership with Open
 data.ch\, has established a fund (Prototype Fund Switzerland) and launched
  a call for applications for digital solutions for democratic participatio
 n.\n\nThe call is open to innovative open-source projects which strengthen
  democratic participation in Switzerland through digital solutions.\n\nThi
 s may include initiatives that increase political transparency\, educate o
 r connect citizens or encourage participation in political debate.\n\nWho 
 can apply: teams including software engineers\, hackers\, data journalists
  and other creatives are encouraged to apply.\n\nFunding: At least five aw
 ards\, worth up to CHF 100’000\, are available. With the funding\, the s
 elected teams can write code and develop a prototype for 6 months.\n\nDead
 line: 14 May 2020\nDecision: 2 July 2020\nThe prototyping phase begins on
