DESCRIPTION:Aim: Facebook is pleased to invite university faculty to respo
 nd to this call for research proposals on exploring unique challenges\, th
 reats\, attacks\, mitigations\, and other considerations in the burgeoning
  space of AR\, VR\, and smart devices. This call covers a broad range of t
 opics relating to applications like AR glasses\, VR headsets\, other AR or
  VR form-factors\, smart home products\, and more. Examples might include\
 , but are not limited to\, the following:\n\n	Novel threats\, attacks\, mi
 tigations\, or features in the areas of silicon\, hardware\, supply-chain\
 , or anti-tamper in this space\n	Privacy-preserving techniques and enginee
 ring in the context of unique sensors and use cases\n	Developments involvi
 ng trust in voice assistants\, smart devices\, smart home cameras\, biomet
 rics\, and so on\n	Proposed operating system\, platform\, or device system
  concepts that offer improvements in the technological space\n	Novel conce
 pts in terms of identity\, authentication\, authorization\, abuse-preventi
 on\, and more\, as they pertain to said devices and technologies\n	Perspec
 tives on unique ethical or societal considerations and challenges posed by
  this technology\, and suggested mitigations\n	Any novel or new concepts i
 n trust as applied to the AR/VR and smart devices space that warrant furth
 er exploration\n\n\nFunding:         USD $75’000\n\nEligibility: 
  Applicants must be current full-time faculty at an accredited academic i
 nstitution that awards research degrees to PhD students\, and they must be
  the Principal Investigator on any resulting award. Proposals from small c
 ollaborative teams\, particularly with PIs bridging necessary technical ar
 eas\, are encouraged. Awards must comply with applicable U.S. and internat
 ional laws\, regulations\, and policies. Successful awardees will be liste
 d on the Facebook Research website and will be encouraged to openly publis
 h any findings/insights from their work.\n\nHow to Apply: Applicants shoul
 d submit a proposal detailing what contribution their research is expected
  to make\, how the research domain will benefit from the work\, a project 
 timeline\, and a budget overview of how the proposed funding will be used.
  Proposals are highly encouraged to focus funding of project personnel\, e
 specially PhD students. CVs of all involved researchers and administrative
  information about the institution will also be requested. For any assista
