DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Spinal Cord Inj
 ury Research Program (SCIRP) Awards. The SCIRP Investigator Initiated Rese
 arch Award is intended to support studies that have the potential to make 
 an important contribution to SCI research\, patient care\, and/or quality 
 of life. IIRA applications may focus on any phase of research from basic t
 hrough translational. Important aspects of this award mechanism include:\n
 \n	Impact: Applications should articulate both the short- and long-term im
 pact of the proposed research. Projects must address one or more of the FY
 20 SCIRP IIRA Focus Areas.\n	Preliminary Data: Observations that drive a r
 esearch idea may be derived from laboratory discovery\, population-based s
 tudies\, a clinician’s first-hand knowledge of patients\, or anecdotal d
 ata. Applications must include preliminary and/or published data that are 
 relevant to the mission of the SCIRP and support the proposed research pro
 ject.\n	Relevance to Military Health: Projects should be relevant to spina
 l cord-injured military Service members\, Veterans\, and/or their family m
 embers and care partners. Collaboration with military and VA researchers a
 nd clinicians is encouraged.\n\n\nTo meet the intent of the award mechanis
 m\, applications must address at least one of the FY20 SCIRP IIRA Focus Ar
 eas listed at the end of this announcement.\n\nFunding:        max. 
 $500’000\n\nDuration:      3 years\n\nEligibility: Applicants from i
 nternational organizations or institutions are eligible to apply\, and the
 re are no citizenship restrictions. Investigators at or above the level of
  Assistant Professor (or equivalent) are eligible to be named as the Princ
 ipal Investigator (PI) on the application.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-applicatio
 ns are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact i
 nformation\, a preproposal narrative\, and a list of collaborators and key
  personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by invitation)
