CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lung Cancer Res
earch Program (LCRP) Awards. The LCRP Concept Award supports the explorati
on of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an
important problem relevant to lung cancer. The Concept Award is not inten
ded to support an incremental progression of an already established resear
ch project but\, instead\, allows Principal Investigators (PIs) the opport
unity to pursue serendipitous observations. This award mechanism supports
high-risk studies that have the potential to reveal entirely new avenues f
or investigation. Applications must describe how the new idea will enhance
the existing knowledge of lung cancer or develop an innovative and novel
course of investigation.\n\nIn addition\, all applications for LCRP fundin
g must specifically address at least one of the Areas of Emphasis as direc
ted by Congress and have direct relevance to military health. The FY20 LCR
P Topic Areas are listed at the end of this announcement.\n\nFunding:
      max. $100’000\n\nDuration:      1 year\n\nEligibility: Appl
icants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to ap
ply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. All investigators at or a
bove the level of postdoctoral fellow (or equivalent) are eligible.\n\nHow
to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They
should contain contact information\, a letter of intent\, and a list of c
ollaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applicat
ions (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full applica
tion packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Applic
 ation Deadline: 27-May-2020\, 5:00 p.m. EST\nFull Application Deadline: 10
 -Jun-2020\, 11:59 p.m. EST\n\nGrants.gov Funding Opportunity Number: W81XW

umber W81XWH-20-LCRP-CA\n	For questions about the eBRAP or Grants.gov plat
forms\, contact the Research Office.\n\n\nFY20 Areas of Emphasis\n\n\n	Ide
ntify innovative strategies for prevention of the occurrence of lung cance
r.\n	Identify innovative strategies for the screening and early detection
of lung cancer.\n	Understand the molecular mechanisms of initiation and pr
ogression to lung cancer.\n	Understand contributors to lung cancer develop
ment other than tobacco.\n	Identify innovative strategies for the treatmen
t of lung cancer.\n	Identify innovative strategies for the prevention of r
ecurrence of or metastases from lung cancer.\n	Develop or optimize prognos
tic or predictive markers to assist with therapeutic decision-making.\n	Un
derstand mechanisms of resistance to treatment (primary and secondary).\n
Identify innovative strategies for lung cancer care delivery (disparities/
 clinical management/ surveillance/symptom management).\n
