CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The goal of this request for proposals (RFP) is to deve
lop therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. This RFP f
ocuses on building preclinical evidence in animal models and on advancing
lead molecules to the clinical candidate selection stage. The proposed stu
dies should have a high probability of reaching IND-enabling studies withi
n two years.\n\nSpecifically\, the Drug Development RFP supports:\n\n	Prec
 linical pharmacokinetics\, pharmacodynamics\, target engagement\, and prel
iminary rodent tolerability\n	In vivo efficacy or proof-of-concept studies
\n\n\nThe ADDF is interested in small molecules and biologics (e.g. antibo
dies\, peptides\, gene therapies). Both novel programs and repurposing/rep
ositioning of approved or clinically safe therapies from other disease ind
ications are appropriate for this RFP.\n\nCurrent target areas of interest
  include:\n\n	Epigenetics\n	Inflammation\n	Mitochondria & metabolic functi
 on\n	Neuroprotection\n	Proteostasis\n	Synaptic activity and neurotransmitt
ers\n	Vascular function\n	Other aging target (e.g. senescent cells)\n	Othe
r novel targets or pathways that are supported by compelling evidence demo
nstrating a rational biological connection to the disease process\n\n\nFun
 ding:        max. $600\,000\n\nDuration:      1 year\n\nEligibil
ity: Funding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic m
edical centers and universities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships are e
ncouraged.\n\nHow to Apply: Deadlines for proposal submissions occur quart
erly. Applications are reviewed in a two-step process: Letters of Intent (
LOI) are the first step. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to deter
mine whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's mission an
d funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of sub
mission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a detai
led project narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical inform
ation.  When formulating the budget\, note that the following costs are n
ot covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication costs\, Equipment\, and
 Travel.\n\nSummer Deadlines:            10-July-20 (letter of i
 ntent)\n
                07-Aug-20 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\n
Autumn Deadlines:            09-Oct-20 (letter of intent)\n

          06-Nov-20 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\nFurther info
rmation\n\n\n	More information about the program is available here\n	Detai
led application instructions are here\n	The application portal can be foun
d here\n	For any other questions\, please contact the Research Office\n
