CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Melanoma Resear
ch Program (MRP) Awards. The MRP Idea Award supports innovative\, untested
 \, high-risk/potentially high-reward concepts\, theories\, paradigms\, and
/or methods in melanoma research. The purpose of the Idea Award is to gene
rate novel research avenues for investigation. The proposed research proje
ct should include a well-formulated\, testable novel hypothesis based on s
trong scientific rationale and study design. A key characteristic of this
funding opportunity is innovation. Innovative research may introduce a new
paradigm\, challenge existing paradigms\, look at existing problems from
new perspectives\, or exhibit other highly creative qualities.\n \nTo be
considered for funding\, applications must address at least one of the FY2
0 MRP Focus Areas\, which are listed at the end of this announcement\n\nFu
 nding:        max. $300’000\n\nDuration:      3 years\n\nEligi
bility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are el
igible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. PI applicants
must be independent investigators at or above the level of Assistant Prof
essor (or equivalent).\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted thr
ough the eBRAP platform. They should contain contact information\, a prepr
oposal narrative\, and a list of collaborators and key personnel as sugges
ted on the platform. Full applications (by invitation) will be made via a
Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded from Gra
 nts.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Application Deadline: 22-June-2020\, 5:00 p.m.

ions about the eBRAP or Grants.gov platforms\, contact the Research Office
.\n\n\nFY20 Focus Areas\n\n\n	Prevention of melanoma initiation factors (e
.g.\, UV radiation)\n	Prevention of melanomagenesis and precursor lesions
(e.g.\, novel genetic and epigenetic drivers\, oncogene induced senescence
)\n	Understanding the tumor microenvironment\n	Bioengineering (e.g.\, comp
utational\, imaging) approaches to address diagnostics\, high risk markers
 \, dormancy\, and metastasis\n	Therapeutic Prevention (e.g.\, interruption
  of disease progression\, recurrence)\n	Minimal Residual Disease (e.g.\, c
