DESCRIPTION:The Leading House Asia\, ETH Zurich has decided to launch a sp
 ecial COVID-​​19 call for project grants in order to support the colle
 ctive effort to better understand the virus as well as its numerous implic
 ations\, and prepare for society’s future. The call is open to all scien
 tific disciplines including social sciences and humanities. \n\nFunding is
  available to allow researchers based in Switzerland and Asian countries t
 o collaborate on research projects on the COVID-19 virus itself or on any 
 of its possible implications.\nThe call is aimed at both new and existing 
 collaborations.\n\nWho can apply: \n\n	Swiss-based applicant: all senior s
 cientists of Swiss federal and cantonal universities\, universities of app
 lied sciences and universities of teacher education\, as well as public re
 search institutions\, are eligible to apply. Applications by doctoral stud
 ents and postdoctoral scientists must be submitted by their supervisors. T
 he Switzerland-​based scientist is the main applicant.\n	Applicant in As
 ia: Research partners must be scientists affiliated with a university or a
  public research institute from one of the partner countries. University h
 ospitals in partner countries are also eligible. The collaborating partner
  must hold a faculty or senior scientist position\, or a doctoral degree (
 Ph.D. or equivalent) with several years of research experience. Eligible c
 ountries: China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan)\, Japan\, South Korea\, ASEAN
  member states (partner countries) (incl. Singapore).\n\n\nFunding and dur
 ation: \n\n\n	Max. CHF 25’000 for up to 12 months.\n	The project grant c
 an be used to develop a joint project proposal for submission for major fu
 nding to funding agencies (e.g. national funding agencies or EU funding sc
 hemes) or to develop a partnership between two institutions or chairs. Par
 tial salary costs may only be granted for the author of a joint proposal t
 o be submitted to a funding agency (salary expenditures for the Principle 
 Investigator will not be covered).\n	The project grant does not cover sala
 ries of doctoral students or exchange of young researchers\, which are cov
 ered by the mobility instruments of the same bilateral programme.\n	A roun
 dtrip economy ticket up to 2 kCHF per trip may be granted.\n	Accommodation
  costs and consumables or equipment for meetings\, lab work\, studies and
