DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Vision Research
  Program (VRP) Awards. The VRP Translational Research Award is intended to
  support translational research that moves promising discoveries into clin
 ical applications that will advance the prevention\, diagnosis\, mitigatio
 n\, and/or treatment of eye injury or visual dysfunction associated with m
 ilitary-relevant trauma. Successful applications to the FY20 VRP TRA shoul
 d establish a clear path to transform a discovery into new drugs\, devices
 \, or clinical practice guidelines that are ready for definitive testing i
 n clinical trials. It is expected that an Investigational New Drug (IND)/ 
 Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) application will be submitted durin
 g or by the end of the period of performance.\n\nTo meet the intent of the
  award mechanism\, applications must address at least one of the FY20 VRP 
 Focus Areas listed at the end of this announcement.\n\nFunding:

 cants from international organizations or institutions are eligible to app
 ly\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Independent investigators 
 at all academic levels (or equivalent) may be named by the organization as
  the Principal Investigator (PI) on the application.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-
 applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain
  contact information\, a preproposal narrative\, and a list of collaborato
 rs and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications (by i
