DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
 gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Vision Research
  Program (VRP) Awards. The VRP Investigator Initiated Research Award is in
 tended to support studies that will yield highly impactful discoveries or 
 major advancements in the research and/or patient care of eye injury and/o
 r visual dysfunction as related to military-relevant trauma. Applications 
 involving multidisciplinary collaborations among academia\, industry\, the
  military Services\, the VA\, and other Federal Government agencies are hi
 ghly encouraged.\n\nTo support research projects at different stages and t
 he exploration/development of ideas of different maturity levels\, two dif
 ferent funding levels are available. The funding level should be selected 
 based on the stage and maturity level of the research project\, rather tha
 n the amount of the budget.\n\n	Funding Level 1 supports exploratory\, inn
 ovative\, high-risk/high-reward research that is in the earliest stages of
  idea development. Research must have the potential to yield new avenues o
 f investigation\, such as new approaches\, new research tools\, or new par
 adigms.\n	Funding Level 2 supports the advancement of more mature research
  toward clinical translation. The research idea or solution should be inno
 vative or novel\, or offer significant refinements\, improvements\, or new
  applications existing ideas or solutions\, as applicable.\n\n\nTo meet th
 e intent of the award mechanism\, applications must address at least one o
 f the FY20 VRP Focus Areas listed at the end of this announcement.\n\nFund
 ing:        max. $260’000 (Funding level 1)\nmax. $750’000 (Fund
 ing level 2)\n\nDuration:      2 years (Funding level 1)\n

 y: Applicants from international organizations or institutions are eligibl
 e to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Independent invest
 igators at all academic levels (or equivalent) may be named by the organiz
 ation as the Principal Investigator (PI) on the application.\n\nHow to App

  contain contact information\, a preproposal narrative\, and a list of col
