DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Neurotoxin Expo
sure Treatment Parkinson’s Program (NETP) Awards. The NETP Investigator
Initiated Research Award supports highly rigorous\, multidisciplinary\, hi
gh-impact research projects that have the potential to make an important c
ontribution to neurotoxin exposure and treatment-related Parkinson’s res
earch. This award mechanism supports the full spectrum of research from ba
sic science through clinical research. Preliminary data to support feasibi
lity is encouraged but not required. The NETP Program seeks applications f
rom investigators working in a broad spectrum of disciplines including\, b
 ut not limited to\, basic science\, engineering\, bioinformatics\, populat
 ion science\, translational research\, and clinical research.\n\nTo meet t
he intent of the award mechanism\, applications must address one of the FY
20 NETP Focus Areas\, which are listed at the end of this announcement.\n\
 nFunding:        max. $1’200’000\n\nDuration:      3 years\n
\nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations or institutions
are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restrictions. Invest
igators at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) are e
ligible to be named as the Principal Investigator (PI) on the application.
The NETP Program IIRA requires that the PI dedicate at least 15% of their
full-time professional effort to this award during the award period.\n\nH
ow to Apply: Pre-applications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. Th
ey should contain contact information\, a letter of intent\, and a list of
collaborators and key personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applic
ations (by invitation) will be made via a Grants.gov workspace. Full appli
cation packages can be downloaded from Grants.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Appl
 ication Deadline: 18-Aug-2020\, 5:00 p.m. EST\nFull Application Deadline:

 v platforms\, contact the Research Office.\n\n\nFY20 NETP Focus Areas\n\n\
n	Quantifiable gene - environment interactions and the risk for or progres
sion of Parkinson’s disease following neurotoxin exposure.\n	Basic biolo
gy of non-motor symptoms that could lead to the development of new treatme
nts for Parkinson’s disease following neurotoxin exposure.\n	System-leve
l mechanism of dopamine refractory motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease
 \, including postural instability\, freezing of gait\, and treatment-assoc
iated dystonia\, that could lead to development of new treatments in patie
nts with neurotoxin exposure.\n	Clinical and research application of digit
al health technology leading to development of new treatments for Parkinso
n’s disease in those individuals exposed to neurotoxins.\n
