DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) funds research to be
tter define\, measure\, and treat Parkinson’s disease as well as critica
l tools and other resources to advance that research. MJFF seeks applicati
ons to develop objective biomarkers that can support therapeutic developme
nt in Parkinson’s. These may include biomarkers that improve definitive
diagnosis\, objectively track disease progression\, enrich for subject pop
ulations\, or more precisely detect a treatment response or target engagem
ent. The availability of these types of biomarkers would transform clinica
l trial design and assist in the interpretation of trial results.\n\nAppli
cations should focus on studies that achieve one or more of the following
for Parkinson’s:\n\n	Develop or validate promising biomarkers of disease
\n	Develop or validate prodromal biomarkers\n	Develop or validate biomarke
rs of phenoconversion\n	Develop or validate specific molecular biomarker a
ssays\n	Analyze and derive candidate biomarkers from existing biological d
atasets\n	Develop and support remote assessment strategies that could comp
lement in clinic assessments\n\n\nFunding:         max. $750’000\
 n\nDuration:        1-2 years\n\nEligibility: U.S. and non-U.S. publ
ic and private non-profit entities\, such as universities\, colleges\, hos
pitals\, laboratories\, units of state and local governments and eligible
agencies of the federal government. As projects may require many kinds of
expertise\, MJFF encourages industry and academic collaborations when appr
opriate.  Post-doctoral fellows are eligible to apply as co-investigators
with designation of an administrative co-PI overseeing the laboratory in
which research is performed. The administrative co-PI will be responsible
for assisting in providing all institutional documents required for the pr
oject and will be required to sign any award contract.\n\nHow to Apply: Th
e pre-proposal is the first step in the application. Pre-proposals must be
completed in the online application portal. All pre-proposals received in
response to MJFF RFAs will be subjected to review and only applicants who
se pre-proposals are determined to best fit criteria as defined in the RFA
will be invited to submit full applications. At the full proposal stage\,
an institutional approval will be required\; for assistance\, please cont
 act the Research Office.\n\nDeadline (Pre-proposal): 22 October 2020 (5:00
  pm EST)\nDeadline (Full Application\, by invitation): 18 March 2021 (5:00
pm EST)\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	See the official webpage for more de
