DESCRIPTION:Siara Isaac\nThis *hybrid* online & on campus workshop offers 
 a participative example of how to increase engagement and interaction duri
 ng live streaming online sessions\, including when you have some students
  in the classroom. The research evidence\, e.g. from cognitive science\, i
 n favour of active learning is very strong. However\, the challenges of st
 imulating high engagement online are daunting. \n\nThe activities will pr
 ompt you to consider how you can successfully translate your on campus a
 pproach to online\, or hybrid online/on campus. We will explore some inter
 action strategies\, and also dig into the micro actions (phrasing\, timing
 \, etc.) that make the difference between a flat and sparkling level of st
 udent participation.\n\nIn order to create a situation similar to the havi
 ng students participating in the same class both from a distance and on ca
 mpus\, this workshop will have both remote and on campus participants.
