DESCRIPTION:Siara Isaac\nThis workshop deals with ‘micro’ ethics – t
he actions of individual engineers in their relations and interactions wit
h other people*. There is good evidence that diverse teams can be more pro
ductive and effective than homogeneous teams\, but diverse teams generate
more issues around ethical interaction. This workshop will provide you wit
h tools to be more aware of when/how issues arise and strategies to work m
ore productively and fairly in heterogeneous teams. These tools will be im
mediately applicable in your current project\, and also form a solid basis
of intercultural communication for working in international or multinatio
nal contexts. 90% of MAKE students who participated in spring 2020 reporte
d learning new strategies to work together in non‐discriminatory ways.\n
\nThis interactive workshop is mandatory for students in interdisciplinary
projects funded by the MAKE committee (Racing Team\, Robocontest\, Solar
Boat\, GrowBotHub\, Rocket Team\, etc). But anyone who would like to atten
d is welcome!\n\nIf you can't participate\, please note that this workshop
  will also take place on\n- Oct. 08th\, 2020\, 13:15-16:00 in room GC A3 3
 0\n- Oct. 12th\, 2020\, 16:15-19:00 in room CM 1 120\n- Oct. 14th\, 2020\,
16:15-19:00 in room GC B3 30\n\nLes supports de l'atelier sont en anglais
\, mais votre participation en français est bienvenue.\n\nIf you have any
questions\, just drop us a line cape@epfl.ch\n\n*The 2 other main aspects
of being an ethical engineer are managing the ’macro’ societal impact
s technological advances (like the way social networks and AI are changing
societies) and ‘meso’ or institution-level decisions (like a company
 ’s ethical procurement policies).
