DESCRIPTION:Aim:  Launched in 2016\, the Treat FTD Fund is a joint effort
  by the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and the Association f
 or Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to support clinical development of n
 ovel or repurposed drugs for FTD disorders. Running clinical trials in FTD
  patients will enable investigators to identify optimal approaches to targ
 eting this unique patient population. The funding priorities for this RFP 
 are:\n\n	Patient Population: The targeted population should include both g
 enetic and sporadic forms of any FTD disorder\, including behavioral varia
 nt FTD\, primary progressive aphasia\, corticobasal syndrome\, progressive
  supranuclear palsy\, and FTD/ALS.\n	Therapeutic Focus: While gene therapy
  approaches for the genetic causes of FTD disorders are of interest\, we e
 ncourage applications that target some of the underlying mechanisms that m
 ay contribute to the sporadic forms of the disease. This RFP is agnostic t
 o target and open to symptomatic and disease-modifying approaches. Both no
 vel and repurposed therapies are encouraged.\n	Clinical Design: The RFP wi
 ll support clinical proof-of-concept and pilot proof-of-mechanism studies.
  Phase 0/1 studies in healthy volunteers assessing pharmacodynamic outcome
 s will also be accepted for review. Innovative clinical trial designs and 
 exploratory endpoints are encouraged.\n\n\nApplications should include a c
 onfirmation of drug supply\, an IRB-ready clinical trial protocol\, and an
  explicit plan for data sharing and/or making available the results public
 ly available.\n\nFunding:        max. $2\,000\,000\n\nDuration:   
    1-3 years\, with potential for follow-up funding\n\nEligibility: Fund
 ing is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medical ce
 nters and universities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships are encouraged
 .\n\nHow to Apply: Applications are reviewed in a two-step process: Letter
 s of Intent (LOI) are the first step\, and are submitted through the ADFF 
 Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to determine whet
 her the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's mission and funding
  priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of submission. 
 Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a detailed proje
 ct narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical information.
