DESCRIPTION:Prof. Simone Warzel\, Technical University of Munich\nTitel: S
pectral Gaps\, Incompressibility and Fragmented Matrix-Product States in F
ractional Quantum Hall Systems\n\nAbstract: \nThe physics of fractional q
uantum Hall systems is characterised by the incompressibility of the fluid
as well as the emergence of fractional charges at low temperatures.\nThes
e robust properties are faithfully described in terms of Haldane’s pseud
o-potentials. \nI will start the talk by reviewing the mathematical set-u
p\, basic properties and challenges related to these models.\nA complete d
escription of the ground state\, excitations and a proof of the spectral g
ap\, which is vital for a theoretical explanation of the spectral gap\, is
available in the thin-cylinder regime. \nIn the second part of this talk
I will sketch these results which rely on properties of the newly introdu
ced class of fragmented matrix product states. \n\n
