DESCRIPTION:Aim: Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is pleased to invite universi
 ty faculty to respond to this call for research proposals on exploring uni
 que challenges\, opportunities\, and other considerations in the emerging 
 space of social VR.\n\nExisting research has focused on how 2D social plat
 forms identify the challenges posed to users when interacting online. Thes
 e include gaming addiction\, online harassment\, cyberbullying\, physical 
 isolation\, and more. Today\, 3D social platforms\, taking place in VR\, a
 re growing in number and scale. Given its nascency\, however\, there are s
 ignificant research gaps in understanding user interaction and user safety
  in these social VR experiences\, as well as how these experiences impact 
 users\, especially teens.\n\nFacebook is therefore soliciting proposals to
  help accelerate research in social VR with the hope of fostering open\, w
 elcoming\, and safer virtual worlds. There are fairly robust research fiel
 ds in traditional 2D social platforms\, and we hope to drive similar progr
 ess in the fields of 3D and virtual reality social interaction.\n\nFunding
 :         USD $75’000\n\nEligibility:  Applicants must be curren
 t full-time faculty at an accredited academic institution that awards rese
 arch degrees to PhD students\, and they must be the Principal Investigator
  on any resulting award. Awards must comply with applicable U.S. and inter
 national laws\, regulations\, and policies.\n\nHow to Apply: Proposals sho
 uld include a summary of the project (1-2 pages)\, a draft budget descript
 ion (1 page)\, CVs of all involved researchers\, information about on timi
 ng and dates\, and an indication of any previous or current collaborations

 ed to include 10% overhead (the maximum allowed in the program guidelines)
