DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The AASM Foundation is committed to  improving  patie
 nt-centered diagnosis and care for all patients with sleep disorders. To e
 nsure that there is a continued advancement in effective diagnosis an care
  of patients  with  sleep disorders\,  the  AASM  Foundation provides
  research funding through the Strategic Research   Award. The Strategic 
 Research Award is investigator-initiated and supports high-impact research
  projects aimed at addressing gaps in knowledge that impact the ability to
  provide optimal\, patient-centered\, cost-effective diagnosis and care fo
 r patients with sleep disorders.\n\nThis is a focused request for applicat
 ions (RFA) open to topic areas related to the following American Academy o
 f Sleep Medicine (AASM) Strategic Plan goals: Public Awareness\, Technolog
 y Innovation and Advocacy to Improve Patient Care. Topic areas that addres
 s the AASM Strategic Plan goals must advance the field of sleep medicine a
 nd population sleep health.\n\nFunding:        Category I: max. $250
 \,000\n                        Category II: max. $1
 00\,000\n\nDuration:      Category I: 1-3 years\n          
               Category II: 1-2 years\n\nEligibility: The appl
 icant must possess a master’s level degree or higher and have access to 
 the necessary resources\, facilities\, and other resources needed to perfo
 rm the proposed work. Applicants are encouraged to be members of the Ameri
 can Academy of Sleep Medicine. Applicants outside the US are eligible to a
 pply\; however\, payment of award funds must be accepted by the institutio
 n in US dollars. Applicants who are the Principal Investigator on a curren
 tly-funded AASM Foundation Strategic Research Award are not eligible to ap
 ply.\n\nHow to Apply: A Letter of Intent (LOI) is required prior to subm
 ission of a full application. To submit a letter of intent\, you must regi
 ster on AASM Foundation Grant Request. Instructions for required forms ar
 e available via the online submission system. Applicants will then be noti
 fied in January 2021 whether they will be invited to submit a full applica
