 hich chemical\, mechanical\, and physical conditions can be precisely cont
 rolled. This makes it possible to create well-defined micro-environments t
 o realize advanced multi-cellular culture systems to investigate tissue an
 d organ function\, and to recreate aspects of diseases to understand proce
 sses and mechanisms in disease progression. This forms the new field of Or
 gan-on-Chip.\n\nIn this lecture\, I will explain the philosophy of Organ-o
 n-Chip\, the opportunities it offers for biomedical research\, drug develo
 pment and personal diagnostics\, I will give examples of organ-on-chip tec
 hnologies and associated fabrication methods developed in recent years\, a
 nd I will illustrate the development and possibilities of Organ-on-Chip wi
