DESCRIPTION:The Swiss National Science Foundation has announced the fifth 
 annual edition of the “SNSF Scientific Image Competition” for images a
 nd short videos from the world of research. The winning projects and a sel
 ection of other entries will be exhibited at the Biel/Bienne Festival of P
 hotography from 8 to 31 May 2021.\n\nThis year\, in addition to the offici
 al jury\, the public will be able to choose their favourite works from amo
 ng those submitted since 2017.\n\nThe competition gives the public an unco
 nventional view of research. It invites all researchers to document the of
 ten unusual environment they work in\, as well as any special tools and in
 struments\, and to capture unexpected occurrences on film or make a photo 
 of the research team at work.\n\nPrize: a CHF 1’000 prize will be awarde
 d to the winners in each of the following categories:\n\n	Object of study\
 n	Women and men of science\n	Locations and instruments \n	Video loop (max.
  15 seconds)\n\nIn addition\, the jury will award distinctions worth CHF 2
 50 each.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n\n	scientists working at higher education in
 stitutions or research institutions in Switzerland.\n\n\nRestrictions: \n\
 n\n	Each participant may submit from 1 to 5 entries.\n	Works by profession
 al photographers are not accepted.\n	Employees of the communication depart
 ments of research institutions\;\n	The submitted image or video must have 
 been produced after 1 January 2020 and while you were employed at a Swiss 
 research institution.\n\n\nDeadline: 31 January 2021 at 24h00 CET.\n\nFor
