DESCRIPTION:The year 2020 is nearing its end\, a disruptive year marked by
  the COVID-19 pandemic. As we are in the midst of the second wave and the 
 vaccine likelihood seems to materialize\, many questions remain unanswered
  about the future.\n \nEPFL\, like the rest of the world\, has had to fac
 e this crisis and find solutions to pursue its missions of education\, res
 earch and innovation. It is in this context that we would like to invite y
 ou to an online conference on the subject "EPFL and COVID-19".\n \nWe hav
 e asked Martin Vetterli\, President of EPFL\, to share with us the challen
 ges and opportunities encountered this year\, the lessons learned and his 
 vision for 2021.\n \nWe will also have the honor of welcoming three EPFL 
 professors who are very involved in the COVID-19 crisis and often quoted i
 n the press. They will talk to us about their work and answer the many que
 stions raised during a round table discussion\, followed\, by a live quest

 ble discussion\n \nProfessor Jacques Fellay\, Associate Professor at the 
 EPFL and Director of the Unit of Precision Medicine at the CHUV\, member o
 f the Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force\, is conducting a researc
 h project on the human genomics of severe forms of COVID-19.\n \nProfesso
 r Carmela Troncoso\, Head of the Security and Privacy Engineering Laborato
 ry at the EPFL Faculty of Computer Science and Communications\, member of 
 the Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force\, has actively participated
  in the development of the SwissCovid application.\n \nProfessor Francesc
 o Stellacci\, Director of the Laboratory of Supramolecular Nanomaterials a
 nd Interfaces EPFL (SUNMil)\, is developing a broad-spectrum anti-viral dr
 ug with the hope of making progress in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 in par
 ticular.\n \nMirko Bischofberger\, Director of Communication at EPFL\, wi
