DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Drug Development RFP seeks to support in vivo precl
 inical studies that advance lead molecules developed for Alzheimer’s dis
 ease and related dementias to IND-enabling studies. The proposed studies s
 hould be structured to deliver a compound with strong potential for clinic
 al and commercial application.\n\nThis funding opportunity prioritizes nov
 el drug mechanisms and modes of action related to the biology of aging and
  other emerging therapeutic areas for dementia. For this reason\, amyloid 
 targeted approaches and cholinesterase inhibitor proposals will not be con
 sidered for this RFP.\n\nSpecifically\, the Drug Development RFP supports 
 the following stages of discovery:\n\n	Preclinical pharmacokinetics (PK) a
 nd pharmacodynamics (PD) (primarily in wild-type animals to inform dose se
 lection for in vivo efficacy studies)\, as well as preliminary rodent tole
 rability studies\n	In vivo efficacy or proof-of-concept studies in animal 
 models of disease or aging\, with a focus on measures of direct and indire
 ct markers of target engagement and downstream pharmacologic effects\n\n\n
 The ADDF is interested in small molecules and biologics (e.g. antibodies\,
  peptides\, gene therapies). Development of novel devices or delivery syst
 ems will not be considered for this RFP.\n\nCurrent target areas of intere
 st include:\n\n	Epigenetics\n	Inflammation\n	Mitochondria & metabolic func
 tion\n	Neuroprotection\n	Proteostasis\n	Synaptic activity and neurotransmi
 tters\n	Vascular function\n	Other mechanisms and modes of action related t
 o the biology of aging (e.g. senescent cells)\n	Other novel targets or pat
 hways that are supported by compelling evidence demonstrating a rational b
 iological connection to the disease process\n\n\nFunding:        max
 . $600\,000\n\nDuration:      1 year\n\nEligibility: Funding is open t
 o researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medical centers and uni
 versities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships are encouraged.\n\nHow to A
 pply: Deadlines for proposal submissions occur three times per year. Appli
 cations are reviewed in a two-step process: Letters of Intent (LOI) are th
 e first step. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to determine whethe
 r the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's mission and funding p
 riorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of submission. St
 ep 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a detailed project
  narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical information.  Wh
 en formulating the budget\, note that the following costs are not covered:
