DESCRIPTION:Dr Johan Rochel\, specialist in philosophy of law and applied
ethics  \nStarting in 2021\, the College of Humanities (CDH) offers EPFL
students the opportunity to freely debate subjects that interest them wit
h philosophy professors. The CDH thus offers the opportunity to deepen and
nourish reflections through a philosophical approach.\n\nThese "Philosoph
y Hours" will take place on Zoom\, from 7 to 8 p.m.\, one Wednesday per mo
nth starting February 24\, 2021 (they will be held face-to-face on campus
as soon as possible).\n\nEach discussion will be illustrated live by the a
rtist Trân Tran. Her drawings will then be collected for publication at t
he end of 2021.\n\nThe theme of the first meeting is "uncertainty"\, echoi
ng the CDH's annual THEMA project. The following themes will be determined
by the students themselves.\n \nPhilosophy Hour #1 - Uncertainty: the ne
 w state of the world?\nWednesday\, February 24th\, 2021\nfrom 7pm to 8pm\n
Zoom (Link to come)\n\nThe recent public health crisis has plunged the wor
ld into uncertainty. But what uncertainty(s) are we talking about? The unc
ertainty of seeing our lives turned upside down\, or the uncertainty of se
eing a world that is changing? What can science do to allow us to surf on
"this" wave? What is your experience\, as students and future engineers fa
ced with these uncertainties?\n\nTo exchange with the EPFL community\, we
have invited Dr. Johan Rochel\, philosopher of law and professor of ethics
. During a virtual "Philosophy Hour"\, we will discuss these uncertainties
.\n\nJoin us!\n\n> Register for info and Zoom link
