DESCRIPTION:The Joint Programming Platform Smart Energy Systems (JPP SES) 
 in collaboration with the global initiative Mission Innovation is pleased 
 to announce the Joint Call 2020 ("MICall20") on digital transformation for
  green energy transition. The aim is to support transnational research and
  innovation activities unleashing the potential of digital transformation 
 for a sustainable energy society.\n\nBy accelerating the implementation\, 
 adaption and knowledge creation of digital solutions in energy systems and
  networks\, this call supports the following objectives:\n\n	Advance the g
 reen energy transition in all sectors of the energy system while ensuring 
 security of supply\n	Shaping new transnational business and investment opp
 ortunities by sector coupling and development of new value chains in innov
 ative and cost-effective energy solutions\, thereby creating new employmen
 t opportunities and contributing to the development of an environmentally 
 sustainable financial growth\n	Ensuring social sustainability and coherenc
 e with digitalisation in other sectors in the progression of the green ene
 rgy transition\n\nThe Funding Agency for Switzerland participating in this
  call is the Swiss Federal Office of Energy – SFOE.\n\nWho can apply: \n
 \n\n	Universities (including ETH-domain)\, universities of applied science
 \, further research organizations and the private sector in Switzerland. T
 he participation of young scientists in the research teams is encouraged.\
 n	Consortia must include at least two independent legal entities applying 
 for funding from two different countries (whereof at least two partners fr
 om the EC and/or EEA region) of the funding agencies participating in the 
 Joint Call 2020.\n	Applicants must submit a national full proposal by the 
 same date. National full proposals must fulfil the national minimum eligib
 ility criteria. If they do not\, or if the applicants did not submit a nat
 ional full proposal in time\, the project will not be fundable\n	Direct co
 mmunication with the national contact person at SFOE is strictly required 
 prior to the submission of the full proposal (michael.moser@bfe.admin.ch).
 \n\n\nFunding & Duration: \n\n\n	EUR 25 million for 36 months.\n	Maximum f
 unding for Swiss-based applicants: CHF 2.5 million for 36 months\n	R&D: Re
 searchers in the public and private sector can apply for personnel costs a
 nd expenses according to the SFOE rates. Wherever possible and reasonable\
 , the participation of commercial and industrial partners – in particula
 r utilities (DSO\, TSO\, ESP) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SME)
  – is strongly recommended to ensure the relevance of the research to te
 chnological development and to the needs of society. An adequate share of 
 own and third-party contributions (in-kind and/or cash) is expected.\n	P&D
 : Funding of Swiss participants is limited to 40% (in exceptional cases 60
 %) of the eligible project costs. Eligible projects costs cover only the a
 dditional project costs that cannot be amortized over the expected lifetim
 e of the developed installation or solution. Additional projects costs are
  defined as the additional project costs when compared to the costs of imp
 lementing an equivalent\, conventional technology or solution.\n\n\nIf int
