DESCRIPTION:Prof. Federico Rosei\nThis presentation focuses on structure p
 roperty/relationships in advanced materials\, emphasizing multifunctional 
 systems that exhibit multiple functionalities. Such systems are then used 
 as building blocks for the fabrication of various emerging technologies. I
 n particular\, nanostructured materials synthesized via the bottom–up ap
 proach present an opportunity for future generation low cost manufacturing
  of devices. Molecular nanosystems are particularly promising\, as they ca
 n be used to synthesize organic analogues of graphene. Certain strategies 
 include the combination of bottom–up and top–down approaches\, includi
 ng the use of surface cues to promote the adsorption of guest molecules in
 to guest pores. We focus in particular on recent developments in solar tec
 hnologies that aim to address the energy challenge\, including third gener
 ation photovoltaics\, solar hydrogen production\, luminescent solar concen
 trators and other optoelectronic devices.\n\nShort Bio :\nFederico Rosei r
 eceived MSc (1996) and PhD (2001) degrees from the University of Rome “L
 a Sapienza”. He held the Canada Research Chair (Junior) in Nanostructure
 d Organic and Inorganic Materials (2003–2013) and since May 2016 he hold
 s the Canada Research Chair (Senior) in Nanostructured Materials. He is Pr
 ofessor at the Centre Énergie\, Matériaux et Télécommunications\, Inst
 itut National de la Recherche Scientifique\, Varennes (QC) Canada\, where 
 he served as Director from July 2011 to March 2019. Since January 2014 he 
 holds the UNESCO Chair in Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion
 \, Saving and Storage.\n\n
