DESCRIPTION:The Nestlé Foundation for the Study of Problems of Nutrition
in the World was established in 1966 by a donation by the Nestlé Company
on the occasion of its centenary.\n\nThe Nestlé Foundation initiates and
supports research in human nutrition with public health relevance in low-i
ncome and lower middle-income countries.\n\nAt present the Foundation's wo
rk is primarily concerned with human nutrition research issues dealing wit
h:\n\n	maternal and child nutrition\, including breastfeeding and compleme
ntary feeding\,\n	macro- and micronutrient deficiencies and imbalances\,\n
interactions between infection and nutrition\, and\n	nutrition education
and health promotion.\n\n\nAll submitted grant projects must be accompanie
d by the ethical approval for the study by all involved institutions. If t
he ethical approval is not submitted the project can not be accepted for e
valuation.\n\nWho can apply: The Foundation expects research proposals to
be primarily the initiative of local researchers from the developing count

applications jointly made by scientists from developed countries with thos
e from developing countries provided it is clear that the initiative will
result in capacity building and human resource development in the latter a
nd the bulk of the budget (at least 75%) is spent in the developing countr
y.\n\nInterested scientists should first submit a “Letter of Intent” i
n which they describe very briefly the kind of project they would like to
undertake\, including an estimated budget. Instructions for the letter of
intent are available on the Foundation website at "Download application fo
rms and reports".\n\nFunding and Duration: max. USD 300’000 for up to 36
