DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) and the SNSF\, wi
 th the support of private foundations and in collaboration with the Swiss 
 School of Public Health\, award each year a limited number of competitive 
 MD-PhD scholarships.\n\nMD-PhD scholarships enable young physicians to com
 plete a doctoral research training in natural sciences\, public health sci
 ences\, clinical research or biomedical ethics at a Swiss university.\n\nA
 pplicants should aim at becoming experts in translational medicine and at 
 contributing to evidence-based medicine.\n  \nDuration: 24-36 months wit
 hin a time window of four years starting from the date of matriculation as
  MD-PhD or PhD student (5 years in justified cases).\nEarliest start: 1 Se
 ptember.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n	Completed studies in human\, veterinary or 
 dental medicine at a Swiss University by the time the scholarship starts: 
 medical degree obtained up to 3 years before the call deadline.\n	Admitted
  as doctoral students in the MD-PhD program of the Medical Faculty of a Sw
 iss university by the time the scholarship starts and for the duration of 
 the scholarships.\n	Dedicate at least 80% of their doctoral time to resear
 ch.\n	Residents of Switzerland for at least 24 months by the call deadline
 .\n\n\nEligible costs: salary of the grantee (CHF 55’044) + 16% social c
 harges.\nOwn contributions: the host institution guarantees funding to com
 plete the doctorate after the expiration of the scholarship.\n\nDeadline: 
 15 December (every year)\nApplications must be submitted to the Local MD-P
 hD Commissions where you intend to be matriculated as doctoral student. Th
 ese will pre-select applications to be recommended to the National Expert
