DESCRIPTION:Velux Stiftung was founded in 1980 by Villum Kann Rasmussen\, 
 a Danish engineer. He developed a novel window construction that could be 
 installed in sloping roofs\, which he named “VELUX” (“Ve” for vent
 ilation\, and “Lux” for light).\n\nThe Velux Stiftung supports basic a
 nd applied research in the fields of:\n\n	daylight\n	healthy ageing\n	opht
 halmology -> New focus in the ophthalmology funding area: addressing biom
 edical knowledge gaps in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). All det
 ails here.\n\n\nProjects should:\n\n	stem from innovative\, out-of-the-box
  ideas\,\n	be relevant beyond the borders of a single discipline\,\n	accel
 erate research by removing bottlenecks\,\n	enable implementation of resear
 ch and\n	promote and/or implement their results inside and outside academi
 a.\n\n\nExcellent research projects outside the strategic funding areas ab
 ove but within the foundation’s legal purpose are not funded or sent to 
 peer-review. Please note that the Foundation does not fund research projec
 ts where the main focus lies in health systems / services research\, imple
 mentation research / intervention science\, health economics or community 
 development.\n\nThe foundation welcomes international and interdisciplinar
 y collaborations.\n\nThe project application needs to establish a convinci
 ng argumentation why no sufficient alternative support can be obtained.\n\
 nWho can apply\n\n\n	Both individual researchers and research groups can a
 pply.\n	The main applicant (e.g. professor\, group leader) must be a perma
 nent employee of a university or other permanent research entity anywhere 
 in the world.\n	Non-permanent employees are welcome to apply as co-applica
 nts.\n	For Ophthalmology projects: applicants are invited to apply in cons
 ortia of research groups with at least one partner based in a LMIC.\n\n\nD
 uration: 1-4 years\n\nFunding: approx. CHF 50-100’000 per year covering\
 n\n\n	Research staff costs (personnel costs\, doctoral students\, teaching
  replacement).\n	Associated research costs (e.g. consumables\, conference\
 , travel\, publication).\n	Equipment costs may be included if duly justifi
 ed.\n	Does NOT cover overheads nor social insurances.\n	For Ophthalmology 
 projects: up to CHF 100’000 per year with at least 50% to be used in LMI
 Cs.\n\n\nDeadlines: \n\n\n	31 May 2021 for Ophthalmology applications (Dec
 ision in November 2021)\n	30 September 2021 for Daylight Research applicat
 ions (Decision in March 2022)\n	30 September 2021 for Healthy Ageing appli
 cations (Decision in March 2022)\n\n\n\nSubmission procedure\n\n\n	Submit 
 the application form\, impact potential statement\, research proposal\, CV
 s (max.3pp. each) and list of publications (up to 10) in a single PDF thro
 ugh the online submission portal (link will be available here). Potential 
 reviewers and Data Protection Policy consent of each co-PI must be submitt
 ed in separate PDF files.\n\n\nStart of the project: within 6 months from
