DESCRIPTION:Prof. Andreas Stahl\nObesity greatly increases the chances of 
 developing a host of diseases ranging from cancer to diabetes. The mechani
 stic connection between the obese state and these diverse disorders is poo
 rly understood but may frequently involve the excessive uptake and inappro
 priate storage of fatty acids by various organs.\n\nThe main focus of the 
 Stahl lab is to identify the mechanism that determine the uptake and distr
 ibution of lipids\, such as fatty acids and ubiquinone\, on the cellular a
 nd organismal level and to utilize molecular and chemical biology\, geneti
 cs\, as well as biomedical approaches to determine how changes in the flux
  of lipids can be utilized to treat obesity associated disorders.
