DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
 iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
 f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
 ghest quality and relevance.\nThe goal of the Pilot Award is to provide ea
 rly support for exploratory ideas\, particularly those with novel hypothes
 es. Appropriate projects for this mechanism include those considered highe
 r risk but with the potential for transformative results. In particular\, 
 we encourage applications that propose research to link genetic or other A
 SD risk factors to molecular\, cellular\, circuit or behavioral mechanisms
  and set the stage for development of novel interventions.\nNote: As sever
 al targeted initiatives have been created\, important changes have been ma
 de to the scope of the Pilot Award in 2021 ( e.g. no proposals involving h
 uman subjects in the Pilot award)\, please read about these changes here.\
 n\nDuration: 2 years\n\nFunding: USD $300’000\n\nEligibility: All applic
 ants and key collaborators must hold a PhD\, MD\, or equivalent degree and
  have a faculty position or the equivalent.  There are no citizenship or
