DESCRIPTION:SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) is a f
 unding programme of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The purpose
  is to fund transdisciplinary research and innovation activities with a fo
 cus on Switzerland’s energy strategy 2050 and the country’s climate po
 licy goals. The programme targets research and innovation in the domains o
 f energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, storage\, networks\, and security
  and safety of critical energy infrastructures. SWEET spans the innovation
  cycle from application-oriented basic research to preparations for deploy
 ment.\n\nThe guiding theme for the 1st call 2021 is “Living & Working”
 . The aim of this call is to investigate and demonstrate how the overall e
 nergy consumption (of buildings\, public spaces and mobility) can be minim
 ized and how energy supply and distribution can be ensured efficiently and
  cost-effectively in geographically clearly defined (sub)urban areas such 
 as neighborhoods and districts.\n\nSWEET targets cooperative consortia of 
 institutions working together over 8 years to pursue portfolios of interre
 lated\, transdisciplinary projects. A consortium comprises at least 5 appl
 icants from different legal entities and is led by a host institution whic
 h is a Swiss institution of higher education and the legal entity applying
  on behalf of a consortium.\n\nA consortium must collaborate with at least
  one established living lab. The living lab must be represented in the con
 sortium either as applicant/member or cooperation partner. Furthermore\, p
 eople participation is highly desirable\, ideally in an institutionalised 
 public-private-people-partnership (4P).\n\n\nWho can apply\nResearch insti
 tutes\, tertiary education sector\, private sector\, as well as public sec
 tor such as cantons and communes. Foreign institutions may participate and
  receive funding\, provided their skills and competencies are essential an
 d cannot be fulfilled by Swiss applicants.\n\nConsortia are composed of Ap
 plicants (receiving SWEET funds) and Cooperation partners (not receiving S
 WEET funds). Both may participate in more than one consortium. However\, t
 he same kind of contribution may not be offered to more than one consortiu
 m.\n\nThe host institution is a Swiss institution of higher education and 
 the legal entity applying on behalf of a consortium.\n\nFunding\nOverall b
 udget for this call is 20 MCHF: Two consortia will be funded eventually an
 d the budget is foreseen to be shared equally.\nApplicants in a consortium
  are expected to contribute financially and/or in kind according to their 
 abilities.\n\nEligible costs\nInternal costs for staff. Costs for equipmen
 t\, services\, expenses and others. Costs in connection with coordination\
 , management and monitoring of the consortium\, as well as for communicati
 on\, dissemination and exploitation of results (knowledge and technology t
 ransfer).\n\nSubmission and deadline\nSWEET Call 1-2021 is organized as a 
 two-step process:\n \n\n	All interested consortia can submit a pre-propos
 al no later than 16 June 2021 (12 noon CEST).\n	A short-list of the highes
 t-ranking consortia will be invited to submit a full proposal. Deadline in
