DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The HFSP postdoctoral fellowship program supports propo
 sals for frontier\, potentially transformative research in the life scienc
 es. Applications for high-risk projects are particularly encouraged. The p
 rojects should be interdisciplinary in nature and should challenge existin
 g paradigms by using novel approaches and techniques. Scientifically\, the
 y should address an important problem or a barrier to progress in the fiel
 d.\n\nHFSP postdoctoral fellowships encourage early career scientists to b
 roaden their research skills by moving into new areas of study while worki
 ng in a new country.\nLong-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with 
 a PhD in a biological discipline\, who will broaden their expertise by pro
 posing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different fro
 m their previous PhD or postdoctoral work.\nCross-Disciplinary Fellowship
 s (CDF) are for applicants with a PhD from outside the life sciences (e.g.
  in physics\, chemistry\, mathematics\, engineering or computer sciences).

 n1) Anyone from any country and any nationality can apply for a fellowship
 . A candidate who is not a national of one of the HFSPO members may apply 
 to work only in a research institution in one of the member countries. A c
 andidate who is a national of one of the member countries can apply to wor
 k in a research institution in any country.\n2) Applicants must propose to
  work in a country different to the one where they did their previous PhD 
 work or first post-doctoral studies. For those institutions that are not c
 lassified as national\, i.e. international or extraterritorial institution
 s such as EMBL\, ICPT or ICGEB\, the country in which the laboratory is lo
 cated will be considered the host country.\n3) A research doctorate (PhD) 
 or a doctoral-level degree comparable to a PhD with equivalent experience 
 in basic research (e.g. a research-based MD or medical PhD) must be confer
 red by the start of the fellowship\, but is not required at the time of su
 bmission. If PhD has already been awarded\, the degree must have been conf
 erred in the 3 years prior to the submission deadline\n4) Applicants must 
 have at least one lead author\, full-length research paper-either accepted
  for publication\, in press or published -in an international peer-reviewe
 d journal or published on a preprint server such as bioRxiv by the deadlin
