DESCRIPTION:The State Secretariat for Education\, Research and Innovation 
 (SERI) mandated the ETH Zurich as Leading House for bilateral collaboratio
 n with partner institutions in Asia.  In 2021\, the Leading House Asia ET
 H Zurich opened a call for proposals for opportunity grants with China (in
 cl. Hong Kong and Taiwan)\, Japan\, South Korea and the ASEAN member state
 s.\n\nWho can apply: \n\n	Postdoctoral scientists\, senior scientists and 
 professors (single or in a consortium) of Swiss federal and cantonal unive
 rsities\, universities of applied sciences\, universities of teacher educa
 tion\, as well as public research institutions.\n	The main applicant must 
 be employed at one of the aforementioned Swiss institutions.\n	The proposa
 l has to include at least one co-applicant from one of the partner countri
 es. Co-applicant(s) will have to provide their own funds (cash and in-kind
 ).\n\n\nFunding: up to CHF 50’000\n\nDuration: up to 12 months\n\nFor wh
 at:\n\n\n	Support to bottom-​up initiatives of Swiss researchers linked 
 to specific events or incidents in the partner countries (China\, incl. Ho
 ng Kong and Taiwan\, Japan\, South Korea\, ASEAN).\n	Examples of events: l
 arge public happenings (such as the Olympic Games\, international or natio
 nal expositions/biennales)\, major environmental events (such as the impli
 cations of a typhoon\, earthquake or tsunami)\, major economic and politic
 al developments (such as the geopolitical implications of a presidential v
 isit or a shift of power in a government)\, launch of a new public policy 
 (such as new impactful agriculture or migration policies).\n	Examples of a
 ctivities: organisation of thematic events for a broader audience or appli
 cation of a Swiss technology or research results \n	Objective: increase th
 e visibility of Swiss science and technology abroad or apply its results t
 o a concrete development or challenge.\n	The call is open to all disciplin
 es.\n\n\nEligible costs: travel\, accommodation costs\, project consumable
 s and equipment\, logistics. Does NOT cover research projects\, salaries o
 r scientific exchanges.\n\nCall timeline:\n\n\n	Application deadline: 18 J
