 A)\nAbstract:\nThe Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) exper
 t group on short-lived climate forcers has been tasked with producing asse
 ssments every 4-6 years.  In May of 2021 our group published a summary fo
 r policymakers that was released for participants of the biennial Arctic M
 inisterial meeting and the public\, backed by a comprehensive 10-chapter t
 echnical report that is now being formatted for publication.  The overarc
 hing aim of the assessment was to summarize the state of understanding of 
 Arctic climate and human health impacts from short-lived pollutants includ
 ing sulfate\, black carbon\, ozone\, and methane.  One of the key finding
 s of the assessment is that reductions in sulfur dioxide emissions over re
 cent decades\, which have improved air quality and reduced premature death
 s\, have also caused an amount of Arctic warming on par with that caused b
 y carbon dioxide emissions over the same period.  This highlights the val
 ue of reducing pollutants that both warm climate and adversely affect huma
 n health.  These and other key findings from the assessment will be explo
 red in this talk.\n\nShort biography:\nProfessor Flanner is a faculty memb
 er at the University of Michigan\, where he leads research on cryosphere-c
 limate interactions and teaches courses on topics of climate and radiative
  transfer. He has authored or co-authored more than 80 journal articles an
 d was named a Highly Cited Researcher in 2018. He has served as a contribu
 ting author to the IPCC Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports on Climate Chan
 ge\, the IPCC Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Cli
 mate\, and the UNEP/WMO Integrated Assessment of Black Carbon and Troposph
 eric Ozone. He currently co-chairs the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Pr
 ogramme (AMAP) Expert Group on Short-Lived Climate Forcers.
