DESCRIPTION:All information on https://www.epfl.ch/research/domains/imagi
ng/calls-for-project\n\nImaging is an interdisciplinary discipline that pl
ays a central and ever-increasing role in science and engineering. To enco
urage cross-fertilization between various disciplines and closer interacti
ons between EPFL actors in imaging\, the EPFL Center for Imaging is launch
ing its “Calls for Interdisciplinary Projects in Imaging”\, a series o
f grants to support collaborative projects aimed at advancing imaging tech
nology at EPFL.\n\nPurpose of the Grants\n\nThe grants aim at supporting r
esearch collaborations that rely on an interdisciplinary approach to demon
strate innovative new concepts in imaging.\n\nThe grants are of approximat
ively 150kCHF each and must be shared by at least two EPFL labs for a max
imum period of two years.\n\nThe grants must be used for the launching of
new research activities and/or the development of tools that can impact th
e EPFL imaging community at large.\n\nEligibility Criteria for Application
\n\nOnly members of EPFL research labs that are part of an ECI’s partner
School (ENAC\, IC\, SB\, STI\, SV) can apply. Applicants must be employed
as EPFL professors or senior scientists (MERs) for the full duration of t
he project[1].\n\nThe proposal must involve at least two research groups t
hat have complementary expertise. There is no requisite for the partner ap
plicants to be from different EPFL Schools or Institutes\, although cross-
school proposals and novel collaborations are strongly encouraged. Each ap
plicant cannot submit more than one proposal per call as main applicant or
as co-applicant.\n\nThe same consortium of applicants cannot submit the s
ame idea to more than one of the following 2021 EPFL-wide calls: ECI Call
for Interdisciplinary Imaging Projects\, EPFL Science Seed Fund\, EPFL Pla
tform Technical Advancement Seed Fund. \n\n[1] Adjunct professors / MERs
who are not financially independent must provide a letter of commitment f
rom their host professor or head of unit\, indicating that he/she 1) guara
ntees the feasibility of the project for its full duration using the means
of his/her unit\, and 2) takes administrative responsibility for all EPFL
personnel financed by the project\, in particular with respect to any in
duced cost or additional resources needed and not covered by the grant.\n\
nEligible Costs\n\nEligible direct costs include and are limited to:\n\n	C
osts for the personnel specifically hired for the project\;\n	Costs for th
e acquisition of equipment and/or material that is key to the execution of
the project and may benefit other members of the EPFL imaging community a
fter the completion of the project\;\n	Other costs: direct costs of infras
tructure use\, open research data costs\, open access publication costs\,
 costs for project-related workshop(s) organization.\n\nEvaluation Criteria
\n\nProposals will be evaluated by a scientific committee based on their s
cientific quality\, their level of interdisciplinarity and innovation\, an
d their relevance to the rest of the EPFL imaging community. A special att
ention will be given to proposals that promote community-building through
events that involve the EPFL imaging community at large. \n\nThe scientif
ic committee is composed of five EPFL faculty members who represent the va
rious EPFL Schools and a diversity of imaging expertise. The committee wil
l make the final decision on the projects to be funded.\n\nDeadlines: \n\
 n\n	Call opening: June 1\, 2021.\n	Application deadline: September 1\, 202
 1 (17:00 CET).\n	Decision: October 15\, 2021.\n	Start of Projects: Janua
ry 1\, 2022 (for max. two years).\n\nSubmit your application form in PDF f
ormat and the CVs of all applicants to imaging@epfl.ch by September 1\,
 2021 (17:00 CET).\nAll forms can be downloaded on https://www.epfl.ch/res
