 \nAbstract: Using applied ML on a regular basis in non-CS projects is a ch
 allenge. Even straightforward applications of ML\, such as image recogniti
 on\, require continuous development and maintenance\, which is costly and 
 not generally rewarded in academia. To address this problem\, I will demon
 strate the concrete use of an ML crowdsourcing platform (AIcrowd\, a spino
 ff from my lab) to continuously develop food recognition algorithms that a
 re used on a daily basis in health and clinical cohorts. I’ll also give 
 a brief update on AMLD.\n\nBio: Marcel Salathé is an associate professor 
 at SV and IC. Before joining EPFL in 2015\, he was an assistant professor 
 at the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics at Pen State. Prior to that\
 , he did a postdoc at Stanford and obtained his PhD at ETHZ. The digital e
 pidemiology lab is based in Geneva at Campus Biotech and focusses increasi
 ngly on personalized nutrition.\n\nThe Center for Intelligent Systems at E
 PFL (CIS) is a collaboration among IC\, ENAC\, SB\; SV and STI that brings
  together researchers working on different aspects of Intelligent Systems.
 \nIn order to promote exchanges among researchers and encourage the creati
 on of new\, collaborative projects\, CIS is organizing a "Get to know your
  neighbors" series. Each seminar will consist of one short overview presen
 tation geared to the general public at EPFL.   \n\nThe CIS seminar will
