DESCRIPTION:Aim\n\nGrants awarded through this RFA are intended to capital
 ize on the rat as a model system to advance our understanding of the behav
 ioral and circuit neuroscience mechanisms driving autism. This RFA will su
 pport a consortium of investigators to collaboratively use SFARI autism ra
 t models to examine the biological basis of complex behaviors and the unde
 rlying neural circuits relevant for autism. We welcome applications from i
 ndividual labs\, as well as collaborative applications of up to three (3) 
 principal investigators.\n\nAvailable funding\n \n\n\n	$300\,000 per lab\
 n	20% indirect costs\, for each year of funding\n	Two (2) to three (3) yea
 rs\n	Simons Foundation encourages investigators to take advantage of the f
 lexibility in budget and duration\, tailoring the scope of the award as ap
 propriate for their specific aims.\n\nEligibility\n\n\n	All applicants and
  key collaborators must hold a Ph.D.\, M.D. or equivalent degree and have 
 a faculty position or the equivalent at a college\, university\, medical s
 chool or other research facility.\n	SFARI recognizes the importance of div
 erse viewpoints for scientific advancement. As such\, SFARI encourages the
  inclusion of researchers who span career stages and groups historically u
 nderrepresented in science.\n	Applications may be submitted by domestic an
 d foreign nonprofit organizations\; public and private institutions\, such
  as colleges\, universities\, hospitals\, laboratories and units of state 
 and local government\; and eligible agencies of the federal government.\n
