CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: The Target Advancement Program seeks to build conclusive
evidence around and develop field-enabling tools for early-stage biologica
l targets in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in order to enable the initiation
of future preclinical therapeutic programs focused on those targets. Fundi
ng will support projects to\nvalidate early-stage targets previously impli
cated in PD pathophysiology and/or symptomology but that have not yet been
rigorously investigated for their ability to impact disease-relevant outc
omes in PD model systems. For targets that are lacking preclinical tools a
nd/or models required for validation\, the Tool Generation track provides
funding for the development of research-enabling preclinical tools and mod
els to assist with the validation of the selected target.\n\nFor this roun
d\, MJFF will not consider proposals focused on the following:\n\n	Validat
ion of well-known targets\, including alpha-synuclein\, LRRK2\, GBA and Pa
rkin/PINK1 given significant current investments MJFF is already making in
these areas.\n	Applications proposing discovery studies to identify new t
 argets (e.g.\, large-scale screening or genomic/transcriptomic analyses).\
n\nAmount: Up to $200\,000. Requested support should be commensurate with
 work proposed.\nDuration: 18 to 24 months\nDeadline: \n\n\n	Pre-proposals
Due: 28 September 2021\, 5 p.m. US ET\n	Full Proposals Due (by invite only
 ): January 13\, 2022\, 5 p.m. US ET\n\nEligibility: Applications may be su
bmitted by researchers or clinicians in:\n\n\n	U.S. and non-U.S. biotechno
logy/pharmaceutical companies\, or other publicly or privately held for-pr
 ofit entities\; and\n	U.S. and non-U.S. public and private non-profit enti
 ties\, such as universities\, colleges\, hospitals\, laboratories\, units
of state and local governments and eligible agencies of the federal govern
ment.\n	Post-doctoral fellows are eligible to apply as co-investigators wi
th the designation of an administrative primary investigator who directs t
he laboratory in which the fellow will conduct research. The administrativ
e co-PI will be responsible for assisting in providing all institutional d
ocuments required for the project and will be required to sign any award c
ontract. Training or mentoring-only proposals will not be considered.\n\nH
