 lk\n\nAbstract\nIn this talk I will give an overview of our plans for the 
 new Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Denmark\, along with a b
 rief look at the research trajectory in Computer Vision and Machine Learni
 ng that brought me from the US to Europe. In addition to an overview of th
 e centre organization\, covering both research thrusts and areas of societ
 al impact\, I will provide a glimpse into the grand challenge problems the
  centre researchers will pursue during the next decade and beyond.\n\nBio\
 nSerge Belongie is a professor of Computer Science at the University of Co
 penhagen\, where he also serves as the head of the Pioneer Centre for Arti
 ficial Intelligence. Previously\, he was a professor of Computer Science a
 t Cornell University\, an Associate Dean at Cornell Tech\, and a member of
  the Visiting Faculty program at Google. His research interests include Co
 mputer Vision\, Machine Learning\, Augmented Reality\, and Human-in-the-Lo
 op Computing. He is also a co-founder of several companies including Digit
 al Persona\, Anchovi Labs\, and Orpix. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER
  Award\, the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship\, the MIT Technology Revi
 ew “Innovators Under 35” Award\, and the Helmholtz Prize for fundament
 al contributions in Computer Vision.\n\nMore information\n
