DESCRIPTION:In the context of the Indo-Swiss Joint Research Programme (ISJ
 RP)\, the SNSF is launching a call for Joint Research Projects (JRPs) toge
 ther with the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) in India and the Indian Co
 uncil of Social Science Research (ICSSR) to support collaborations between
  researchers in Switzerland and India in two different fields of research:
 \n\nUnder the MoES\, the overarching topic of the call is “Mountain rese
 arch\, with a focus on glaciers or climate research”. The proposal must 
 fall under one of the following subtopics:\n\n	Glaciers as climate archive
 s\n	Cryospheric modelling\n	Forecasts for heavy rainfall/cloudburst\n	Mult
 i-risk early warning systems\n	Orographic cloud and precipitation formatio
 n\n	Aerosols from mountainous ecosystems to act as cloud condensation nucl
 ei and ice nucleating particles\n\nUnder the ICSSR\, the following topics 
 in the field of social sciences are available:\n\n\n	International Migrati
 on and Immigration Policies\n	Technology\, Social Media and Social Cohesio
 n\n	Heritage and Cultural Exchange in Global Age\n	AI\, Big Data and Socia
 l Science\n\nThe SNSF will evaluate the applications together with the MoE
 S and the ICSSR. The available budget for this call allows for the funding
  of 7 projects in the field of mountain research (MoES/SNSF) and 8 project
 s in the field of social sciences (ICSSR/SNSF)\, provided that a sufficien
 t number of high-quality proposals are submitted. The maximum budget avail
 able for the Swiss side of a project is CHF 350\,000 for a 4-year project 
 and CHF 250\,000 for three years.\n\nThe duration of the JRPs under the Mo
 ES topics is 3 to 4 years and JRPs under the ICSSR topics 3 years.\n\nWho 
 can apply:\n\n\n	At least one main applicant based in Switzerland and one 
 based in India. Other applicants and project partners based in Switzerland
  and/or India can also participate.\n	Swiss-based applicants: natural pers
 ons employed at a Swiss university\, a Swiss university of applied science
 s or an institution of the ETH Domain. They must be eligible for SNSF Proj
 ect Funding (ref. EPFL Instructions for SNSF Project Funding). Swiss appli
 cants can apply for this call even if they hold or have applied for other 
 SNSF grants.\n	Applicants based in India: Please refer to the call documen
 t for specific rules and regulations.\n	All main and other applicants may 
 only submit one application per call.\n\n\nFunding & Duration:\n\n\n	Max. 
 CHF 350’000 for 4 years and CHF 250’000 for 3 years (for the Swiss par
 t).\n	Eligible costs for Swiss-based applicants: personnel costs\, materia
 l costs\, access to infrastructure costs\, open research data\, conference
 s and workshops\, international cooperation and networking. With regard to
  international travel and subsistence\, the overall principle is that airf
 are and insurance will be covered under the funded budget of the sending c
 ountry\, while accommodation\, meals\, subsistence\, and local travel will
  be paid by the country hosting the visit. Overhead costs for Swiss applic

 DMP)\, use the cost calculator to estimate your data management costs\n\n
 \nTimeline of the call:\n\n\n	Deadlines: 30 November 2021 at 17:00 CEST\n\
 n	\n		The Indian participant(s) must submit the complete proposal (same as
  submitted on mySNF) as one single consolidated PDF file\, at latest withi
 n seven working days after the deadline of the call\n	\n	\n	Submission: Pr
 oposals are to be jointly prepared by the Swiss and Indian applicants. The
 y must be submitted by the Swiss main applicant to the SNSF mySNF.\n	Earli
