DESCRIPTION:Aim: This initiative seeks to establish a practical and scalab
 le understanding of how to honor people’s privacy with consideration to 
 the different contexts in which people experience and or use our products.
  As such\, Facebook research wants to empower academic experts to broaden 
 and deepen our collective knowledge of global privacy expectations and exp
 eriences.\n\nApplications are sought from across the social sciences and t
 echnical disciplines\, including but not limited to disciplines such as an
 thropology\, communications\, computer science\, economics\, engineering\,
  human-computer interaction\, human factors\, political science\, social p
 sychology\, and sociology. Most notably\, applications that are interdisci
 plinary and seek collaboration across fields are particularly welcome. App
 licants from diverse backgrounds and those with expertise in specific coun
 tries\, cultures\, or vulnerable populations\, including those that have n
 ot previously been examined in relation to privacy\, are especially encour
 aged to apply. Research methodologies that use qualitative\, quantitative\
 , ethnographic\, and/or mixed method approaches are all welcome.\n\nTo fos
 ter further innovation in this area and to deepen our collaboration with a
 cademia\, Facebook is pleased to invite faculty to respond to this call fo
 r research proposals pertaining to the aforementioned topics. They anticip
 ate awarding a total of 4–5 awards\, each in the $100\,000 range. Paymen
 t will be made to the proposer’s host university as an unrestricted gift
 .\n\nFunding:        ~ USD $100’000\n\nEligibility: Applicants mus
 t be current full-time faculty.\n\nHow to Apply: Proposals should include 
 a summary of the project (1–2 pages)\, a draft budget description (1 pag
 e)\, CVs for all project participants\, and organization details\; see the
  Research Office for assistance on this last point. Ideally proposals subm
 itted are single-spaced\, Times New Roman\, 12 pt font.\n\nNote that Faceb
 ook will not be required to treat any part of a proposal as confidential o
