DESCRIPTION:SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) is a f
 unding programme of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The purpose
  is to fund transdisciplinary research and innovation activities with a fo
 cus on Switzerland’s energy strategy 2050 and the country’s climate po
 licy goals. The programme targets research and innovation in the domains o
 f energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, storage\, networks\, and security
  and safety of critical energy infrastructures. SWEET spans the innovation
  cycle from application-oriented basic research to preparations for deploy
 ment.\n\nThe guiding theme for the 2nd call 2021 is “Critical Infrastruc
 tures\, Climate Change\, and Resilience of the Swiss Energy System”. The
  aim of this call is to analyse the influence of the energy transformation
  on critical infrastructures. Moreover\, the vulnerability of the energy s
 ystem to technical\, natural and societal hazards is to be studied. Of par
 ticular interest are hazards that are influenced by climate change.\n\nThe
  consortium’s work is expected to lead to the following outcomes:\n\n	Id
 entification of those infrastructures of the energy system with the highes
 t criticality in response to technical\, natural\, and societal hazards.\n
 	Findings for relevant stakeholders on how the vulnerability of the energy
  system changes over time.\n	Recommendations for relevant stakeholders on 
 how the resilience of the energy system can be increased\n\n\nSWEET Call 2
 -2021 is a joint activity of the SFOE and the National Centre for Climate 
 Services (NCCS\, http://www.nccs.ch) that complements the NCCS-Impacts pro
 gramme “Decision Support for Dealing with Climate Change in Switzerland:
  A Cross-Sectoral Approach”.\n\nSWEET targets a cooperative consortium o
 f institutions working together over 6 to 8 years to pursue portfolios of 
 interrelated\, transdisciplinary projects. A consortium comprises at least
  5 applicants from different legal entities and is led by a host instituti
 on which is a Swiss institution of higher education and the legal entity a
 pplying on behalf of a consortium.\n\n\nWho can apply\nResearch institutes
 \, tertiary education sector\, private sector\, as well as public sector s
 uch as cantons and communes. Foreign institutions may participate and rece
 ive funding\, provided their skills and competencies are essential and can
 not be fulfilled by Swiss applicants.\n\nConsortia are composed of Applica
 nts (receiving SWEET funds) and Cooperation partners (not receiving SWEET 
 funds). Both may participate in more than one consortium. However\, the sa
 me kind of contribution may not be offered to more than one consortium.\n\
 nThe host institution is a Swiss institution of higher education and the l
 egal entity applying on behalf of a consortium.\n\n\nFunding\nOverall budg
 et for this call is 10 MCHF for one consortium.\nApplicants in a consortiu
 m are expected to contribute financially and/or in kind according to their
  abilities.\n\n\nEligible costs\nInternal costs for staff. Costs for equip
 ment\, services\, expenses and others. Costs in connection with coordinati
 on\, management and monitoring of the consortium\, as well as for communic
 ation\, dissemination and exploitation of results (knowledge and technolog
 y transfer).\n\n\nSubmission and deadline\nSWEET Call 2-2021 is organized 
 as a two-step process:\n \n\n	All interested consortia can submit a pre-p
 roposal no later than 3 December 2021 (12 noon CEST).\n	A short-list of th
 e highest-ranking consortia will be invited to submit a full proposal. Dea
 dline in February 2022. The deadline for submission of full proposals is A
 pril 2022.\n\n\nImportant: Consortia that intend to submit a pre-proposal 
 must inform the SFOE by sending a notification of intent to submit to swee
 t@bfe.admin.ch no later than 11 October 2021 at 12:00 noon CEST. The notif
 ication is mandatory. Please inform the Research Office in parallel.\n\nUs
