DESCRIPTION:Prof. Maaike Bleeker\, Prof. Jennifer Parker-Starbuck\, Prof.
Hiroshi Ishiguro and Prof. Zaven Paré\n\n\n\nContemporary stage and robot
ics : exchanges and collaborations.\n\nToday\, many artists are introducin
g robotic solutions into their creations\, thus questioning several trans-
and posthumanist aesthetic visions and concepts. The 21st-century scene s
eems to be at the forefront of current developments in robotics\, as indic
ated by the growing number of new productions. These include: Oriza Hirata
 \, Zaven Paré\, Stefan Kaegi\, Pipeline Theater\, Philippe-Louis Demers\,
  Kris Verdonck\, Joris Mathieu\, Anne Thériault\, Isabelle Van Grimde\, M
arco Donnarumma.\n\nWe would like to focus this conference on the ultra-co
ntemporary period\, from the 2000s to the present day\; a period in which
the idea of the Uncanny Valley defined by Masahiro Mori in 1970 has been e
xplored in an unprecedented way\, notably with the androids developed by J
apanese and Hong Kong laboratories\, as well as through research on the au
tonomy and behaviour of machines. A robot on stage creates new challenges\
, not only for artists but also for engineers\, theorists and analysts.\n\
nThe conference will be held online\, in English. Zoom access\, provided b
y the technical office of the ZHdK\, will be communicated on the UNIL site
  on Monday evening\, October 4.\n\n\n
