DESCRIPTION:Sam Behjati - Group Leader and Wellcome Trust Intermediate Cli
nical Fellow\nA Lola and John Grace Distinguished Lecture in Cancer Resear
ch\n\n\n \n\n\nDr Behjati is a Group Leader and Wellcome Trust Intermedia
te Clinical Fellow working across cellular genetics and cancer. He is also
Honorary Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital\, b
oth in Cambridge\, UK. His research sits at the interface of cancer genomi
cs and single cell transcriptomics. Dr Behjati’s team uses cutting edge
single cell techniques to understand normal human development and how norm
al development relates to disease.  The focus is on understanding and qua
ntifying the nature and origins of cancer cells\, particularly childhood c
ancers. To do this\, the research combines the study of somatic genomic ch
anges\, bulk and single cell transcriptomics\, and mathematical modelling
of data.\n\nOriginally from Germany\, Sam read medicine at Oxford\, foll
owed by academic clinical training in London and Cambridge. He joined Co
rpus as a Research Fellow in 2016 and provides supervisions in cancer biol
ogy. Dr Behjati undertook his doctoral studies in classical cancer genomic
 s at Sanger.\n\nAGORA BUILDING - PATERNOT AUDITORIUM\n\n
