IC Colloquium: Two ways to improve your h-index without writing papers
By : Peter Buneman - University of Edinburgh
Video of his talk
Abstract
Every few months we use a database to publish, in a few minutes, several papers (which we did not write) in a journal (which no-one reads.) I shall describe why this made a number of people happy. I shall also discuss the technically related problem of computing the h-index and other bibliometrics on very large databases.
Joint work with: Jamie Davies, Edinburgh; Dennis Dosso, Padua; Simon Harding, Edinburgh; Matteo Lissandrini, Verona; Gianmaria Silvello, Padua; He Sun, Edinburgh; and Yinjun Wu, Pennsylvania.
Bio
Peter Buneman spent much of his research career trying to reconcile the principles of databases and programming languages. He has also made contributions to the mathematics of phylogeny and, more recently, to data provenance and data citation.
