"Morality is herd-instinct in the individual" - Friedrich Nietzsche
If Nietzsche was right, moral intuitions are a group selection trait to resolve tragedies of the common without necessarily pointing to some universal moral truth. If nascent technology creates new situations where only altruism benefits the collective, do we have moral obligations to act against our current intuitions?
Welcome to a discussion evening on the intersection of game theory and ethics. Markus Bredberg will initiate the evening with a 30 minute presentation, introducing his "locality problem". The remainder is dedicated for a group discussion with snacks. We hope to see you there!
Examples of questions:
- Is the complexity of our world making it harder to act morally?
- How much should we trust our moral intuitions on emerging issues?
- Are people giving up on acting moral?
