Shuffle workshop
"Let the wind take care of everything."
Book editing and assembly workshop led by graphic designer Rob Van Leijsen.
Participate in an experimental edition project by changing the order of the book pages.
Organized by Alice-Epfl laboratory and the advanced program in photography of the CEPV.
The workshop is part of the ARCHITECTURE BOOKFAIR organized by ARCHIZOOM.
The students from the superior training in photography at the Centre d'enseignement professionnel de Vevey (CEPV) have been documenting the phases of ALICE’s first-year architecture students, visually narrating the process, and more importantly, bringing a visual input on the margins of the traditional architecture imagery. The collaboration resulted in a unique visual corpus of more than 700 selected images completely appart from what is usually understood as architecture photography. This work is now being celebrated through the creation of an editorial experiment of around 80 visuals from CEPV students coupled with engaging texts that act as a catalyst for creative processes. In this sense, the publication is thought as a kind of artistic manual. Every one of the 800 produced copies of this edition will be unique : during this workshop the pages will randomly be shuffled before being sent to binding, creating a series of 800 one-of-a-kind books that resonate well with the spirit of the ALICE/CEPV collaboration.
