COST Actions have a duration of 4 years. The deadline to submit a COST Action is usually in October. COST Actions do not cover research funding. Integration into existing COST actions is possible.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nSwitzerland is one of the founding countries of COST and a full member of the COST Association. Thanks to this status, researchers in Switzerland are entitled to participate in COST Actions or to coordinate them and submit applications for new Actions. Doctoral candidates are exposed to the academic and non-academic sector to develop competences for innovation and to enhance employability.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nThere are 3 sub schemes for the MSCA DNs:\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Standard</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies, the doctoral program includes secondments to project partners.</li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Industrial</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies; they must spend 50% of their time in the non-academic sector.</li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Joint Doctorates</strong> → PhD students must be enrolled for doctoral studies which lead to a “joint doctoral degree”. At least one applicant (main or co‑applicant) must be employed at a Danish university, hospital or non‑profit research organisation.<br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>How to Apply</strong>: Applications should be submitted using the foundation’s online platform <a href=\"https://norma.novonordiskfonden.dk/\">NORMA</a>. The application process consists of two stages. Stage1 entails a short expression of interest limited to 10,000 characters with a preliminary budget and with a deadline of 07 October 2026. Several shortlisted applicants will be invited to Stage2 (notifications in December 2026), in which the applicants will be asked to submit an application with a detailed project proposal of 30,000 characters. A borrower raises funds for an initial investment and may need financing after observing a private liquidity shock. Under non exclusive lending, new lenders price only their claims, so additional borrowing dilutes existing debt and leads to excessive leverage. The optimal simple debt contract is an endogenous debt limit. It captures the intertemporal commitment–flexibility tradeoff: more borrowing today fi nances investment but increases dilution incentives, requiring tighter limits on future borrowing.
