"description": "Accelerated Adaptation explores pathways to speed up the adaptation of wild species in order to prevent biodiversity loss and safeguard natural ecosystems.
\r\nARIA supports the development of tools, protocols, and methodologies to help wild species adapt more rapidly to environmental pressures, with the goal of strengthening ecosystem resilience. This solicitation funds Phase 1 of the program: development of protocols, tools, and methodologies to accelerate adaptation.
\r\n
\r\nARIA provides a live teaming tool here and organizes a webinar for questions and clarifications on 24 February 2026 (12:30 GMT) - register here
\r\n
\r\nARIA is seeking to fund teams across the following program areas:
\r\n \r\n
\r\n\t
TA1 System-focused Teams: Demonstrate accelerated adaptation, against a benchmark, in specific systems. Applications could focus on strategically chosen vulnerable species, such as trees, which can support hundreds of other species, and/or critical functional groups such as pollinators or soil nutrient cycles that underpin ecosystem services.
\r\n
\r\n \r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
TA3 Modelling: Increase our current predictive capacity with respect to modelling ecosystem resilience, integration of genetic, population and ecosystem‑level data, and understanding the impacts of potential interventions.
\r\n
\r\n \r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
TA4 Data & analytics: Make results comparable across teams, trusted and legible including through delivering training, and developing shared protocols, and data visualization mechanisms. Ensure that claims made by system-focused teams are independently verified.
\r\n
\r\n \r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
TA5 Ethics + social responsibility: Recognizing there is a diverse set of ethical considerations in the funded areas, we will not be prescriptive in what can be funded in this TA. Activity could include co-developing ESR tools, frameworks and guidance; delivering training to project teams; producing evidence that could inform future governance models/regulatory pathways.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nEach application should focus on a single TA. Applicants may submit multiple applications, provided each addresses a different TA.
\r\n
\r\nDuration: The duration of the program is four years, two years for Phase 1 funded here.
\r\n
\r\nFunding: Funding levels vary by Technical Area (please refer to the call document).
\r\n
\r\nEligibility: \r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Applications from across the R&D ecosystem, including individuals, universities, research institutions, small, medium and large companies, charities and public sector research organisations are welcomed.
\r\n\t
Many applicants may decide to apply as a consortium consisting of two or more organisations that are proposing a cohesive proposal to work collaboratively.
\r\n\t
Overseas applicants are advised that ARIA's primary focus will be on funding those who are based in the UK. However, funding will be available to applicants outside the UK if ARIA believes the proposed project can boost the net impact of a programme in the UK (examples of benefit listed here, p.17)
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nHow to Apply:\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
Applications must be submitted on ARIA’s grant platform, via the applicant’s account. "description": "Aim: There are currently no FDA approved disease-modifying treatments available for frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and symptomatic treatments only provide limited benefit for patients. Recent scientific advances have provided an increased understanding of pathogenic mechanisms underlying FTD and are driving the development of potential disease-modifying therapies. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) seek to accelerate this progress by supporting innovative small molecule and biologic (antibodies, oligonucleotides, peptides, gene therapy etc.) drug development programs for FTD through this request for proposals (RFP).
\r\n
\r\nThe funding priorities for this RFP are:\r\n
\r\n\t
Lead optimization of novel disease-modifying compounds, including medicinal chemistry refinement and in vitro ADME.
\r\n\t
In vivo testing of novel lead compounds, biologics, vaccines, or repurposed drug candidates in relevant animal models for pharmacokinetics, dose-range finding, target engagement, in vivo efficacy, and/or preliminary rodent tolerability studies.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nFunding: up to $300,000 based on stage and scope of research
\r\n
\r\nDuration: 1 year, with potential for follow-up funding
\r\n
\r\nEligibility: Funding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medical centers and universities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships are encouraged.
\r\n
\r\nHow to Apply: Applications are reviewed in a two-step process: Letters of Intent (LOI) are the first step, and are submitted through the ADDF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to determine whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's mission and funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of submission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal, which should include a detailed project narrative, budget and justification, and biographical information. When formulating the budget, note that the following costs are not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead, Publication costs, Equipment, and Travel. See the full Application Instructions for more details.
\r\n
\r\nDeadlines: 11 May 2026 (letter of intent)
\r\n 20 July 2026 (full proposal, by invitation)
\r\n
\r\nFurther information\r\n\r\n
\r\n\t
More information about the program is available here
\r\n\t
Detailed application instructions are here
\r\n\t
The application portal can be found here
\r\n\t
For any other questions, please contact the Research Office
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n ",
